Last day, 16/01/2019 we made an experiment in the laboratory. We made the pH of household chemicals to determinate it. We also discover patterns involving pH that is the measure of the acidity or basicity of a solution that in our experiment, was liquids. The scale of the pH goes from 0 to 14, there are three basic resultas that are basic, neutral and acidic. When we put cabbage in to the test tubes, when then we put different liquids with different pH of acid, the color changed. The different liquids that we put in to test tubes was: coke, milk, alcohol, wine, ammonia, bleach.

El dijous 18/10/2018, a laboratori vam fer un experiment anomenat “Pasta de dents per elefants”. Aquest experiment consistia en com diu el títol, fer una mena de pasta de dents per elefants.

Abans de fer el experiment, la Mireia en va fer posar bata de laboratori, guants de goma i ulleres protectores, per precaució. Per fer la pasta vam barrejar detergent líquid, aigua oxigenada i iodur de potassi.  En ajuntar aquets tres productes va haver-hi una reacció química, i va sortir una espuma d’un color groc fluixet. Vam medir la temperatura de l’espuma amb un termòmetre i estava a 55 graus, és a dir, molt calent i per això no ens van deixar tocar la espuma.

A tota la classe ens va agradar molt fer aquell experiment, i al final de tot la Mireia ens va dir que en veritat no era pasta de dents per elefants, però que es deia així perque ho semblava.

NON-NEWTONIAN FLUID:

Who are we:

We are Martina Javier, Martina Barri, Liam Moore, Joel Culell and Júlia Lahoz.

Hypothesis:

We think that this experiment will work, because we think it’s a really easy recipe, plus, Martina has already done it at home.

Materials:

  • Cornstarch

  • Water

  • Recipient

  • Spatula

  • Purple alimentary colorant (red+blue)

Steps:

  • Put half of the pack of cornstarch in the recipient.

  • Next add some water and mix.

 

  • Repeat till the other steps till it looks like a liquid but it feels like a mass.

   

  • (optional): Finally add the alimentary colorant.

Results:


Conclusions:

It worked, the experiment was a success. It has been amazing to touch a fluid that doesn’t have a specific state (solid, liquid or gas).

Avui als Racons d’infantil i primària QUÈ, QUI, COM, hem fet tres racons: el racó dels colors, el racó del tacte i el racó d’observació.

Ens han ajudat alguns alumnes de 2n d’ESO: la Martina, la Júlia i la Martina i el cap de dia Pau. Ho han fet molt bé i ells s’ho han passat molt bé també.

Materials:

5 Glasses

Toilet paper

Alimentari colorant, green, blue and red

Hypothesis:

We think that the water is going to be absorbed by the toilet paper and it will bring the water to the other glass that didn’t have water.F0A8A4D6-575D-4A55-8BE6-7C91C91331EA

 

Conclusion

The experiment has been successful. The water has moved from a glass to an other and the colorantes has mixed.

This year, we are going to the lab three times a week, during one term.

So far we have learned the safety rules to be followed in the lab, the tools and equipment that we use in the lab. We have studied and experimented with the magnitudes mass, volume, density and temperature using the scales, graduated cylinders, droppers, beakers and thermometers.
